Customize labels and messages ¶
Edit text in the workbook ¶
Write the labels, explanations and results that end users need directly in the Excel workbook. Convert after editing the text and check its placement, especially when translated labels are longer than the originals.
Customize standard labels ¶
In the Workbook tab, open Preferences — localisation labels. The current panels provide labels for the toolbar, required-field messages, wizard buttons, submit dialogs and Node.js login.
Enter the wording you want in the relevant field and commit the edit by leaving the field or pressing Enter. Convert again and check the actual control or message in the output. Settings for a feature that your page does not use will not create that feature.
Set required-field messages ¶
The required-field panel includes Error message, OK button and Dropdown default text. Keep the error wording clear enough to tell a end user which information is missing and what to do next.
Check the language in context ¶
Test required fields, wizard navigation and submission outcomes so you see the messages a end user will actually read. These label settings are not an automatic translation of the entire workbook. Review workbook text and number/date formats separately.
