Do you have what it takes?

SpreadsheetConverter is an add-on to Microsoft Excel that you download from our website and install on your Windows PC. You must have both Windows and Excel to use SpreadsheetConverter.

If you are looking for an alternative to Excel, we recommend the free OpenOffice program suite. Unfortunately, SpreadsheetConverter is tightly integrated with Excel and cannot be used with OpenOffice.

If you are using Windows 98 or Windows ME, or Excel 97, you should use version 2, which can be downloaded from the bottom of this page.

For Excel 2007, you need SpreadsheetConverter version 4 or later.

When the download starts

After you've clicked on one of the download links, your browser will usually ask you what you want to do with the file. We suggest you select Open or Run. This will save the program file in a temporary location, then start the installation automatically.

If the browser only provides a Save option, or if you want to keep the installation file after the program has been installed, select Save and point the browser to a suitable location on your hard disk. You will need the program file later, so make a note of where you save it!

The browser may warn you that the type of file you are attempting to download may harm your computer. This is just a standard security notice that appears when downloading files of this type. Click OK to proceed with downloading SpreadsheetConverter.

After the download

When the download is complete, installation will start automatically if you select Open or Run in the previous step. If you saved the file on your hard disk, start the Windows Explorer and navigate to the folder where you saved the file, then double-click on the program file to start the installation. The installation will prompt you to stop Excel if it is running.

After the installation

SpreadsheetConverter is an add-on to Microsoft Excel, where it appears in the menu. You cannot start SpreadsheetConverter on its own from the Start menu, you just start Excel and select the SpreadsheetConverter menu.

If you have problems using SpreadsheetConverter after installation, you may be using high macro security with Excel 2000, 2002 or 2003. In this case, use the Tools menu and navigate to Macro > Security and set the macro security to Medium. You may also have to explicitly "trust" all Excel macros from Framtidsforum.
