These examples are created using an early version 2 of SpreadsheetConverter. We haven't updated them. Version 2 is used if you need compability with very old browsers like Netscape version 4.

Here are some examples of web pages created using SpreadsheetConverter:

  • Interest calculator
  • The shortest distance

Simple interest calculator

Interest calculator

If you invest one lump sum at a specific rate for a number of years, how much do you get? In a spreadsheet, this is easy, 3 input cells and one single formula.

One minute later, you can have it on the web. Note that the formatting, for example number of decimals, thousand separator, and percent sign, is on the web too.

The shortest distance to fly

When you fly across a globe, the shortest distance is not a straight line.

This spreadsheet shows how to combine an advanced calculation, with a large table. The table consists of more than 700 cities and their location. It gives the user a simple user interface. The user can select two US cities, and the spreadsheet will look up their location, and calculate the distance. If your city isn’t included, you can enter the coordinates for your city.

The shortest distance

The technique used in this spreadsheet can be applied in many other examples, for example a shipping company could use a similar spreadsheet to calculate the delivery time and delivery cost of a package.

Everything is edited and kept up-to-date in the spreadsheet; the web page is created automatically and needs no further work. Thus, changes can be done within minutes.

Note that the web page is 290Kb, but thanks to the built-in compression of modern web servers and web browsers, it downloads in seconds even on a slow connection. If you download the spreadsheet, you need to mark the whole sheet and select unhide in order to see the formulas and the tables.
